Take up your weapons!! (Charge your grey cells too)

Posted by AAMEC Students

Ready to tour Chennai, in this cool, blissful climate? How would it be, if you get chances to meet and interact with various geeks, code masters, Robot-Cops from all over Tamil Nadu. Indeed, from all over India. And ofcourse the opposite gender too :)

Wouldn't it be cool if you could attend non-lullaby lectures and workshops? Some hacking stuff? Some rocket science? What say?
Kurukshetra, the battle of brains, one of the largest techno management events of Asia, the only such event in Tamil Nadu to be endorsed by UNESCO, is up in the air again. Kurukshetra is the brand-event that is hosted during every winter season, by the prestigious College of Engineering Guindy (CEG) , Anna University, Chennai.

Last year, with lot of fun, enthusiasm and cheer, K'10 even marked a world record in Origami. Their sponsors ranged from IBM to Infosys to Google, from DHL to NDTV Hindu.

With 37 events under various categories, 12 workshops (9 last year), 6 lectures and with prizes worth 1Million rupees, Kurukshetra is going to be a platform for thousands for students, as it attracted 15,000 students last year from around 75 countries.

This year K'11 is scheduled from Feb 2 to 5. Since, a large number of tech students are gathering in one place, it, sure is gonna be the Tech-Kumbamela. So, what are you waiting for? Go surf the k'11 website and register for the events now!

Is it just about participating in some so-called geeky stuffed events and winning them? Is it just about attending the workshops and coming back with certificates? It is about learning that you can still have fun in learning engineering. It is about meeting those minds which think so alike as we do, that we wonder where these guys (girls ;) ) were in the past. It is the rediscovery of the fun that we had in our kinder-garden and yet learned how precipitations occur, how tooth grow, etc.

So, you got boosted now? Well, the other-side facts now. Here is a To-do list for you:
Ø Registration for K'11 does not mean that you can participate in events straight away. Look for the individual and team events you are interested in and register for them each.
Ø Take care that there occurs no event-event, event-workshop or workshop-workshop clashes in your schedule. Note them all in Google calendar and you will get to know the overlaps. So, shortlist the events and workshops that you are attending, by choosing those which pull you much and leave the remaining.
Ø Register for the accommodation earlier to avoid last-minute hangovers.
Ø If you are attending a workshop, confirm your seat by paying the fees in time. By now, registrations for some workshops are closed. So, ACT NOW.
Ø K'11 has Student Ambassadors representing each college. If you college is not in the list, do apply for becoming SA for your college. If your college girl/guy is on the list, probably you might know her/him. Call her/him up and confirm your participation. If you are a newbie and don't know your SA, contact her/him through mail or get the help of your seniors.
Ø SA for AAMEC is: Nelson.X, Final Year, IT. You know him? The lean, tall guy with i-didn't-sleep-last-night look. Call him if you know or else mail him at: xnelson.btech[at]gmail.com
Ø If you get doubts, do look up at K'11 forum. Your doubt might already have been cleared there for someone. Or else post your queries in the respective thread(s). Or ask your SA. Get his number ( girls beware ;)) and disturb his day-time naps.
What else? Have I forgot anything else? If any, do write in comments. (Pardon me for ifs, elses, and also for reading this.)

Go, rock, enjoy, have fun....and do learn and win!!!!

All the best!!
